Engage Interactive...huh?
In some sense, Engage Interactive started out as a humble group of students from the National University of Singapore, just wanting to form a project group for the module, 'New Venture Creation'. We had no idea how the project will turn out to be. We were a group of young 'brats?' who had no idea what we want to do.
So how did we come out with the idea of eMO? eMO...huh? Yeah, that's what you are asking? What is eMO? We will let you know again...
But it was one fine sunny evening, if there is really such a thing called a sunny evening. We just finished our first lesson with Douglas Abrams, our lecturer, soon to be part of our Board of Advisors. Oh oh... but let me introduce the team to you first.
First up, we have the Can't Express Out (CEO) Julia Carolina, who had kindly volunteered her precious service to us. She... just can't express out.
We also have our Can't Opt Out (COO) Lee Sing Yong. Co-opted into the team by Julia, he simply... just can't opt out...
There is Faisel, our Can't Take Out (CTO), in charge of developing our eMO. He can't take out his eMOtions....
Susan is our Can't Market Out (CMO). Basically, she desperately need to market out her eMOtions.
The writer, Huanyan, Cannot Figure Out (CFO). He just can't figure out how come his CEO can't express out, his COO can't opt out, his CTO can't take out, and his CMO can't market out. He simply just can't figure out anything.
So, coming back to that sunny evening... we had our first lesson, and after that we had what would later become a routine post 9pm meeting every Tuesday. Faisel suggested using his FYP project as part of our idea. It was a seed, but we decided to explore other options. And so what are some ideas we looked at?
Airplane system?
Fitting room?
Traffic light?
Microneedles?
Toiletbowl brush....
Second Life insurance...
Finally, Faisel's idea won out. It was a feasible idea, and the market situation allows us to utilise on the rise of social network portals to cater our eMO to meet current unmet need. What exactly does eMO do? Tell you again.
The development of the business for Engage Interactive wasn't that smooth and sweet. We had quarrels and fights, mostly between Huanyan and Julia. We learnt that whenever a man and a woman fight, the man is always right... (but we can hear Julia protesting...) okok, the woman is always right. (can you hear the men protesting?) Our business plan got shredded apart by Douglas and Alvin, over the course of the past 12 weeks. It was stressful. And that's in addition to our regular schoolwork... and the frequent meetings that Julia called for...
As you can see, the fact that you are reading this blog and all these materials has shown that the group has matured over the past few weeks. We are entering the final phase of the project and planning to bring this project to past and make it a reality. There are certain obstacles along the way. But hear from us soon.
